Project Description

urban-economics-initiatives

The 2016 elections seasons is over. President-Elect Donald Trump will lead our nation. Republicans have control of both Houses of Congress, 34 Governor posts, numerous state legislatures. While an unexpected percentage of blacks voted for Mr. Trump, the grind of national politics has resulted in the need for reconciliation.

Black on Black Compassion promotes the idea that, only with practical grassroots initiatives underway, can African Americans communities move forward in various dimensions – especially in the realm of economics.

Urban Economics Initiatives (UEI) project seeks to develop and execute practical solutions that build functioning economic exchange in black communities. The project embraces models for job creation, business growth, organizing financial resources, etc. UEI encompasses a number of deliverables, such as:

  • Macro strategies, for presentation to policymakers and other stakeholders
  • Economic development projects
  • Institutional development and growth i.e., policy, investment, etc
  • Supplier chain networks.

The core value in UEI is to avoid “project bloat”. That is, to confine the project to a reasonable focus.

This phase focuses on the creation of an overall strategic plan to guide UEI. It is vital that the strategy articulates:

  1. Vision, a set of statements that describe the future state of things because of this initiative.
  2. Mission, the governing purpose of UEI.
  3. Objectives, broadly-defined market descriptions of the impact we hope to achieve e.g., growth.
  4. Goals, measurements (i.e., percentages, numerical) and dates.
  5. Tactics, the things that we will do to accomplish campaign goals.
  6. Outcomes, the specific measurements that enable us to determine the Tactics are completed.

The strategy must articulate mechanism to promote sustainability. This is particularly important for key personnel given UEI will greatly rely on time and energy of its leaders. Likewise, UEI must plan ways in which to sustain the overall work of BBC and by-extension, The LowdCrowd Network.
